Poverty and blindness have a direct impact on each other – poverty causes blindness, and blindness exacerbates poverty. Addressing population eye health and untreated blindness is a powerful catalyst for the #1 UN Sustainable Development Goal to end poverty everywhere.
90% of the world’s blind live in the low-income communities of the developing world. The 2030 SDCF partners with ophthalmologists in the developing world to boost uptake of treatment by organising clinics and free microsurgical treatment camps in remote locations.
